King’s College Alicante boasts a spacious, bright environment that is our Secondary’s Library. Currently with over 7,000 titles of mainly English language books both fiction and non-fiction but also including Spanish, Valencian and French sections. There is also a comprehensive reference section that has recently been updated. The library is open full time and is always buzzing with activity at break times and lunch times and even after school.
Secondary Pupils at King’s College use the library for reading, researching, studying and also for improving their literacy skills in English by taking part in a wide selection of events and activities that form the Library Events Calendar. Our library also runs four Book Fairs during the school year which are extremely popular with parents and pupils.
Over the summer work took place to extend our Primary library, we are delighted with the result! We now have a fantastic space for reading and learning.
All KS2 pupils will have a chance to visit the wonderfully organsied library and may borrow a reading book which they can take home to enjoy. In addition the library will be open to KS2 pupils during break times for sessions named “Fun Library”. During these sessions students will have access to fun English language based activities such as quizzes, board games and competitions, a great way to practice English!
A fantastic group of “Library Monitors” help to keep the new library and our other book cases organised throughout the week.
In the words of one of our favourite authors, Dr Seuss, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
We have a newly refurbished London red bus called ´BOB´(Books on Board) which houses special reading areas for Early Years and Primary pupils. The bus is also used for our outreach project in the local community supporting and encouraging reading in English.
